Nanzenji Kyo-machiya: Timeless Elegance (Kyoto, 2024)

Located in the historic Nanzenji district, this project involved the comprehensive restoration of a traditional Kyoto Nagaya (row house). Under the expert supervision of Alex Kerr, we performed a full-scale renovation to transform this historic structure into a modern private residence.

Our approach focused on honoring the intrinsic beauty of traditional craftsmanship while seamlessly integrating contemporary comforts. By preserving the original character and "old-world" charm of the machiya, we have created a living space that celebrates Kyoto’s architectural heritage while meeting the needs of a modern lifestyle.
