Renovation and Modernisation of Traditional Japanese Houses (Kominka)
In recent years, our company has specialised in renovating and modernising traditional Japanese houses, both in and around Kyoto, as well as in the western Kansai region. If needed, we can assist with the process of finding a suitable home—taking into account location, budget, and other preferences—as well as handling the related paperwork.
We work closely with architects, traditional carpenters (daiku), and real estate agents to find not only the right house but also the best way to turn it into your home. On many of our projects, Alex Kerr—whose name needs no introduction in the world of kominka restoration—works with us as a consultant and mentor.

In the beginning, we focused on repair work, however, as the number of renovation projects has increased over the years, we have also started to do new construction work. We have been building comfortable houses for our customers by utilizing our expertise in repair and renovation work. In addition, we have also been able to provide construction management services because of our experience working in the construction industry before the establishment of the company. We are available for consultation on anything from water leakage to new house construction.

Once we narrowed down the potential Properties, we would create an Album of Detailed Photos as well as a (if possible) sighting. From there we have staff to help you with the Paperwork of aquiring the property, signing insurances, setting up automatic bank transfer systems for electricity, gas and water up to formailties like introducing yourself to the neighbours (very important in japan).
