Asahi-House (Main House): Rural Serenity (Kameoka, 2025)
Nestled in the tranquil countryside of Kameoka, Kyoto, this project involved the restoration of a petite, late-Edo period kayabuki (thatched-roof) cottage.
Directed by our in-house designer and supervisor, Felix Krienke, the renovation draws deep inspiration from the philosophy of Alex Kerr and the humble, minimalistic spirit of traditional Japanese farmhouses. By embracing a "rural attitude," the design highlights the raw beauty of natural materials and the quiet elegance of country living.
The result is a space that feels both ancient and refreshingly modern—a sanctuary that honors the landscape it inhabits.
